Katsucon 2014 ~ Doctor Who Gathering

So I was whomping around in my Eighth Doctor costume on Friday and ran into a really kickin’ 10th and War Doctor.

Here's me with said War Doctor.

Here’s me with said War Doctor.

I was informed that there had been a Doctor Who meet-up that day, and that there would be another the following day. We (and an 11th Doctor) ended up doing a big ol’ shoot with Paul Karpey, which I will share with you when he starts putting out pics. I heard from another gentleman that he would have an Eighth Doctor on hand the next day … which meant that I could swap out for another costume without messing up the Doctor representation.

I went for one of my new ones: Gallifreyan Clara from ‘Name of the Doctor.’

What follows is a mix of photos taken by myself and one Sarah McElroy. Visit her Facebook album for the full set, as the only ones I’ve lifted from her are ones with me in them (and thus ones I couldn’t have taken).

Phew. And that’s only a handful of them. Visit that image gallery for tons and tons and tons more. Seriously. The only main series Doctor not represented was Six, and I only know two people who’ve ever willingly made that coat anyway.

Thanks to my fellow Friday night Doctors for cluing me in on this, and to everyone else who was super awesome about hanging out with me there. There are still more Who shenanigans to come, so hang in there.

And no, seriously, I promise. There will be ANIME costumes from this ANIME con before long. Probably.

Katsucon 2014 ~ All the Cosplays

Well, the downside of this year’s Katsu is I missed the window to apply for an Artist Alley table. The good news is, this meant I had time to roam in cosplay, get pictures of other people’s, and get pictures of mine! The mine ones will be forthcoming, but for now I have photos of several others I caught along the way.

You know the deal: if you see your picture, grab your picture. If you’d like a link back to a page of some sort under your picture, leave a comment and it shall be done. ♥

Now, onward!

There’s more to come — LOTS more to come. I did three photoshoots of my own, went to a giant Doctor Who gathering, and did a mini-shoot with two cool dudes that was … yeah, MORE Doctor Who stuff.

Stay tuned for all that, because more photos will be rolling in bit by bit.

Nekocon 2013 ~ Equestria Girls

Love it or loathe it, My Little Pony: Equestria Girls was a thing. I ended up watching it specifically for a stint on the Greatest Movie EVER! podcast, but God help me, I kinda liked it. Helps that I’m a fan of the show proper. But even though the designs were a bit goofy and the tie-in merchandise is hideous, I did enjoy it. Certainly enough to cosplay from it.

Granted, my main reason for picking Sunset Shimmer (I’m more a Rarity girl) is because I already had her jacket from another costume. Making the skirt and top was the work of a weekend, and finding the rest was relatively easy. So I got together with Michael and Maya for a little EQG group.

Now, I’d told myself beforehand that I was gonna go and find me a Princess Twilight Sparkle to steal a crown from. I didn’t think I would find one, but by God …

... she walked right past my table!

… she walked right past my table!

I got a lot of compliments for this one — thanks very much! It’s a fun one to do, especially with those badass boots. I’m sure she’ll be out and about later (primarily because apparently people’s kids are asking to see her!?!?).

Not sure about other MLP:FiM costumes … I’ve considered Daring Do and/or Vinyl Scratch, but we’ll see. Too many costumes on my list already.

Nekocon 2013 ~ Took me long enough.

Gosh, it’s been a busy time. After Nekocon, I had a lot of family things to take care of, then a trip to England, and I’m just now getting back into the swing of things. Nonetheless, my lovelies, I have indeed gathered together at least a few Nekocon pics.

Now I’m going to have a couple separate entries for my own costumes as usual, but here’s a handful of what I saw at the table. Again, if you see yourself, grab your pic — and if you want me to link to you, let me know!

‘Why so few pictures?’ I hear you cry. Well, because I’m working on assembling a video … and I took a lot more vids than photos! But I thought I’d throw up a handful of what I saw beforehand. No worries — I will link to the video when it’s all done and show you a few of the other neat things I saw.

‘Til then, hang tight for some other cosplay piccies of my own. Maybe I’ll get these all sorted before it’s time for MarsCon, no …?

Shore Leave 35 ~ The Con with a Shatnerday

So I knew Shore Leave was going to be insane this year. Saturday was going to be slammed because William Shatner was the big Guest of Honor, and I was already slammed because I was prepping for other cons. Thus, in a horrific rare occurrence, I did not actually wear any of the costumes I brought outside of my stuff for Luna-C.

I know, right?

In the end, the sheer amount of people at the con tired me out, but I was able to do a thing or two.

Shore Leave is still in the same hotel, but it's become a Wyndham.

Well, I will say that one of my primary reasons for actually being excited this year — instead of just going along to see friends and do the show — is that Eddie McClintock and Saul Rubinek of Warehouse 13 were both in attendance. I got their autographs and a picture with both of them, but the picture with both of them has me looking kind of doofy so here’s one of me from earlier in the con with just Eddie.

Let's be real, I still look doofy.

Naturally I was there primarily for the Luna-C show, which went well. We even had birthday cake for Rachel afterwards.

I always love me a TARDIS.

I wasn’t expecting them.

This weekend (as with the following con) I roomed with Kelsey Wailes, whom you might know for her My Little Pony mods, Doctor Kawaii, etc. When I wasn’t hiding in my room, I took time to hang out with her and Captain Picard.

I also made a friend.

Which liked me.

Because I wasn’t able to finish my new costume in time, I had to skip the masquerade — but that gave me a chance to catch up with friends.

Intervention would end up being two weekends later. And a lot busier for me. Look forward to that.

Katsucon Photoshoot ~ Smile PreCure!

Anyone who’s followed me for long enough knows by now that I’m a PreCure fan to all sorts of extremes.  To that end, I find myself making costumes from the various series on a semi-regular basis.  For Katsucon this year, I decided I wanted Cure March from Smile PreCure! on hand.  My friend Star Angel was going to have Cure Sunny ready, but real life intervened and our pair-up will have to wait ’til a later con.  (Though what I saw so far looks awfully good.)

I know I said I was going to put up Ace Attorney photos next, but there are about six dozen of those to go through and upload, and there are only a few of March.  So next time, I promise.  But for now, again courtesy of Paul Karpey, here are some PreCure pics.

MarsCon 2013 ~ Out and About

MarsCon was crazy-busy this year for a variety of reasons.  Well, for one thing (as always), Luna-C was performing, but more on that in a later entry.  I also spent a lot of time at my Artist Alley table, made sales, met lovely people, saw lovely costumes … and because of my long walks between there and panel rooms, I got to run into a lot of rather neat costumes.  And weird sights in general.  So even though I don’t have anything new of my own to show, I’m more than happy to show off the creations of others.

So behold, Part One of my three-part MarsCon photo dump:

“Rebirth” was the theme this year …
