Ashes to Ashes ~ Shaz Granger (2 of 2)

And here be the second set! This is from the end of S3E7, in Luigi’s and then after (when Gene and Alex are otherwise occupied … erm). There was an Italian restaurant that would have been grand for this, but apparently it’s closed.

I was more than a little pleased to be told that one of the show’s creators likes and approves of these photos, and apparently they’re eventually going along to Ms. Montserrat Lombard herself. No pressure — I enjoyed doing these costumes, but she will always corner the market on adorable.

Again, if you want to see lots more, go to Megan’s Flickr — these are just my personal bests.

Basic infos — this outfit was primarily bought and adapted. I painted the patterns on the bracelets, and the ‘Last Exit’ logo on the shirt was hand-painted, too. Everything else was bought as-is, same wig from the previous costume.

Megan’s now on me to do the wedding dress — I just don’t know — I could never match that.

Hey, though! Come see me at RavenCon this weekend for fun! I’ll have some costumes, but I’ll also be doing a few panels, too. I’m hoping to finish putting lining and buttonholes in my latest costume to have it ready, so look forward to that.

Katsucon 2014 ~ Doctor Who Gathering

So I was whomping around in my Eighth Doctor costume on Friday and ran into a really kickin’ 10th and War Doctor.

Here's me with said War Doctor.

Here’s me with said War Doctor.

I was informed that there had been a Doctor Who meet-up that day, and that there would be another the following day. We (and an 11th Doctor) ended up doing a big ol’ shoot with Paul Karpey, which I will share with you when he starts putting out pics. I heard from another gentleman that he would have an Eighth Doctor on hand the next day … which meant that I could swap out for another costume without messing up the Doctor representation.

I went for one of my new ones: Gallifreyan Clara from ‘Name of the Doctor.’

What follows is a mix of photos taken by myself and one Sarah McElroy. Visit her Facebook album for the full set, as the only ones I’ve lifted from her are ones with me in them (and thus ones I couldn’t have taken).

Phew. And that’s only a handful of them. Visit that image gallery for tons and tons and tons more. Seriously. The only main series Doctor not represented was Six, and I only know two people who’ve ever willingly made that coat anyway.

Thanks to my fellow Friday night Doctors for cluing me in on this, and to everyone else who was super awesome about hanging out with me there. There are still more Who shenanigans to come, so hang in there.

And no, seriously, I promise. There will be ANIME costumes from this ANIME con before long. Probably.

Anime Mid-Atlantic 2013 ~ Smile PreCure!

Sorry that new entries (and old) have been so long in coming. It’s been a very busy time for me, and I’ve been sorting through photos when I’m not at cons to make sure I’ve got everything set.

So remember my Cure March costume from Katsucon? Well, I was supposed to have a Cure Sunny on hand (in the form of Star Angel), but she stays insanely busy with her other cons and movie work so she had to give it a miss. However! The two of us were prepared for AMA, and so were several photographers. You may remember seeing the photo of us with Yunmao Ayakawa, but here are a couple more. If you’re one of the photographers who got pics, leave me a comment, because I’d love to see more!

Catching the light at the last minute. This guy was good; I'd particularly like more of his pics.

The problem with being PreCure fans is there’s like eight different teams (at the moment) and we keep wanting to do stuff from every season. So you may see more from us. We’ve talked about doing Black and White from Futari wa, just to have lighter wigs and give our necks a rest … but we’ll see.

Katsucon Photoshoot ~ Giant Ace Attorney Group!

And finally, at last, I get enough breathing room to put up these photos I’ve been dying to share — the massive Ace Attorney photoshoot from Saturday afternoon of Katsucon!  I lost track of how many of us ended up there, but it was a great time and a lot of great photos.  I had so much fun meeting all of you.

At my final count, we had … three Phoenixes of various eras, three Mayas, two Gumshoes, a Mia, a Diego, a Maggey, and an Edgeworth.  I don’t think I’ve missed any out … in other words, quite a group.

The photos are courtesy of both Paul Karpey and Veronica Lamarra.  If you see yourself in this group, let me know!  You can check out one of the Gumshoes here on Tumblr, and Linh’s still where she’s always been.

Also, thanks as always to Yunmao for being the one to talk me into cosplaying Edgeworth.  As I’ve said before, this is not one I would ever have thought of doing myself.

Katsucon Photoshoot ~ Smile PreCure!

Anyone who’s followed me for long enough knows by now that I’m a PreCure fan to all sorts of extremes.  To that end, I find myself making costumes from the various series on a semi-regular basis.  For Katsucon this year, I decided I wanted Cure March from Smile PreCure! on hand.  My friend Star Angel was going to have Cure Sunny ready, but real life intervened and our pair-up will have to wait ’til a later con.  (Though what I saw so far looks awfully good.)

I know I said I was going to put up Ace Attorney photos next, but there are about six dozen of those to go through and upload, and there are only a few of March.  So next time, I promise.  But for now, again courtesy of Paul Karpey, here are some PreCure pics.

Photoshoot ~ Dahlia Hawthorne

It’s down to the wire for Shore Leave, and I’ve got one more costume to put the finishing touches on.  If you’re going to be there, be sure to come see Luna-C’s show at 5 PM.  We’ve got some new material lined up and everything.

This is one of the costumes I’m planning to take with me.  It’s Dahlia Hawthorne, the merry murderess from the third Ace Attorney game.  I knew I wanted to make this costume the moment I saw her … and then when I learned more about her, I didn’t change my mind.

Incidentally, these photos were taken at the very beautiful Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond.  Thanks to the people there for inviting us out to pose with the butterflies!

There’s a very pretty Japanese garden out there.

Photoshoot ~ Excellen Browning

I love Super Robot Wars (both the anime and the games — I’m actually playing my way through the end of Destiny and α2 right now), and Excellen’s been my favourite character ever since we first met her.  It’s a cosplay I’ve put off doing for years, but I finally got around to it.  It’s not as recognisable as a lot I do, but when someone knows who it is?  It’s fantastic.

There really needs to be more SRW love, because it’s a great series of games and a really fun handful of shows.

These photos were taken in the gym and at the pool at the Norfolk Marriott during Anime Mid-Atlantic.  Enjoy!

That’s all the AMA pictures!  Now it’s time to get back to work preparing for Shore Leave.  Everyone stay cool!
